Child Care Subsidy - Information for Families

Families must apply for the Child Care Subsidy themselves, via their MyGov account (Centrelink/My Family section) or by personally visiting a Family Assistance Office.

We are approved to provide the subsidised care to families. However, we cannot process subsidy claims for families.

Subsidy is only paid as a direct-to-service reduction of fees payable.

Your joint family income must be under $352,453 to receive any subsidy payments

The subsidy is capped at $10, 373 per financial year if your joint income is between $188,163 and $352,453

The majority of families working full-time and on a mid-range annual income are eligible for subsidy. This can range from 20% to 85%, for 36 to 100 hours per fortnight.

5% of your subsidy payments are withheld by Centrelink at the time payments are processed. This allows them to reconcile the payments at tax time and avoid overpaying, which ensures you don't end up owing Centrelink.

Any work-related activity is counted for assessing subsidy entitlements. This includes permanent and casual work, upskilling for jobs, volunteering in a professional capacity and helping in a family business.
